Wired up the Beehiiv embed properly today. Replaced the placeholder form in SubscribeBar with the actual embed snippet from the Beehiiv dashboard.
Had to adjust the styling — Beehiiv's default embed comes with its own styles that clashed with the site's mono aesthetic. Ended up using the headless embed option which gives just the input and button without Beehiiv's wrapping styles. Much cleaner.
The subscribe flow
- User enters email in the subscribe bar
- Beehiiv handles validation and double opt-in
- Confirmation email goes out from Beehiiv
- Subscriber lands in the Beehiiv audience dashboard
Simple. No custom backend needed.
First subscriber
Someone from Dubai found the site through LinkedIn. They clicked through from a post I shared about the $100 challenge concept. First subscriber within 48 hours of going live.
Not a vanity metric — it means the concept resonated with at least one person who wasn't already following me. That's enough to keep going.
Next focus
The site itself is done for now. Project 001 is wrapping up. Next project (002) will be something completely different — an actual product, not infrastructure.
Still thinking about what it will be. Some options on the table:
- A simple SaaS tool for agency workflows
- A micro-product targeting a specific niche
- Something in the education or content space
Will decide by end of the month.
